You can check on downloads at any time. Click on the Downloads button to open the Downloads panel. The Downloads panel displays up to five of your most recently downloaded files, as well as their size and download status. Alternatively, click the menu button and then click Downloads to view your downloads in the Library window, which displays a list of your previous downloads, along with the size, source and download time for each file.

When you download a file, you can configure Firefox to always open similar files. Right-clickHold down the control key while you click the file in the Downloads panel and select Always Open Similar Files from the context menu. This will add an entry for that file type to the Applications section of the General panel in Firefox settings, where you can configure how Firefox handles that type of file. To learn more, see Manage file types and download actions in Firefox.

You can change what action Firefox will take for handling downloads for different types of files when you browse the Web, such as opening the file with a specified application or always asking you what to do for that type of file.

Before beginning a download, Firefox will attempt to protect you from potentially malicious or unsafe downloads and will block downloads from insecure connections. To learn more, see the Mozilla Security blog posts Firefox 93 protects against Insecure Downloads, Enhancing Download Protection in Firefox and Improving Malware Detection in Firefox. If something is suspected, the download will not begin, but rather the Downloads panel will display a warning message:

Other files covered under download protection may be potentially unwanted downloads (explained in the Google Policy) that may make unexpected changes to your computer. Or, a download may not be malicious or unwanted, but simply not commonly downloaded. The file name will be displayed with one of these warning messages:

When you see a malicious file or other types of potentially unsafe files in the Downloads panel, click on the right-facing arrow to choose what to do with the file. You will be given more information about the type of unsafe file and the option to allow the download or remove it:

To save a element's contents as an image, you can create a link where the href is the canvas data as a data: URL created with JavaScript and the download attribute provides the file name for the downloaded PNG file:

Initially running on 32-bit systems, Mozilla Firefox updated to a 64-bit MSI package for Windows in 2016. The main advantages include improved download protection, process separation, and specific customizations on the web browser. While you can use the interface bar like a search engine, Google appears as the default.

For releases of Firefox 89.0 and earlier Marionette will only be enabled inGeckoView based applications when the Firefox preferencedevtools.debugger.remote-enabled is set to true viamoz:firefoxOptions.

Marionette will only be enabled in GeckoView based applications when theFirefox preference devtools.debugger.remote-enabled is set to True viamoz:firefoxOptions. This will be fixed in the Firefox 90 release for Android.

DownThemAll is a powerful yet easy-to-use extension that adds new advanced download capabilities to your browser.DownThemAll lets you download all the links or images on a website and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable filters to get only what you really want.DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it allows you to queue, pause and resume downloads at any time and is fully integrated in your favorite browser!

  • It provides a way to write files to the disk. The only ways to write a file froma browser add-on is to use the downloads API which basically takes an URLand transfers the data verbatim to the downloads directory. Even if the downloadeddata can be generated internally by the add-on, it is not suitable to writing bigfiles like videos. The ability to write files from an add-on was present in Firefoxbut does not exists in Chrome nor Firefox (>= 57). Writing files from the add-on is necessary when downloading streams using protocols HLS and DASH.

  • It contains a build of the very popular ffmpeg video converter application. This is required by the add-on to create audio+video files when audio and video data are streamedseparately. This is also necessary if you want to perform any conversion operationon the downloaded media. Previously, you also had to download a converter for those operations on Firefox (and conversion/aggregation was not supported on other browsers).

  • Running the companion app cannot be simpler: you don't have anything to do.Video DownloadHelper will take care of calling the app whenever it requiresan operation that cannot be done from within the browser. You won't see anythingexcept a nice result.

  • Installing the companion application is also very simple: you just have a regularinstaller that you execute once and you are done. On Mac, contrarily to the previous converter for Firefox that was hard to install (involving the installation of the homebrew intermediate installer), you now just have to download a pkg file and doublie-click on it.

To simply take a look at the Firefox source code, you do not need todownload it. You can look at the source directly with your web browserusing Searchfox (start at -central/source forthe complete firefox source code of branch HEAD).

Using a download manager hands off the downloading of files from Firefox to a dedicated app. You can use this app to limit the speed at which your files download, leaving you free to continue to use Firefox without high-speed downloads hogging all of your bandwidth.

Another way that you can limit download speed in Firefox is to use an app called NetBalancer. This app allows you to manage your network traffic and includes the ability to limit the download speeds for specific applications.

I think that the firefox snap confinement issue that has plagued many is causing this problem, but I'm not sure. My problem is that when I download a file, I typically will click on the "Open Folder" button next to the file so I can browse to it in my file explorer (using KDE dolphin). But instead, when I click the folder, simply nothing happens.

Everything I've read about this issue says that it's due to strict confinement of the firefox snap package, and to use the home interface to access files in my home directory and the removeable media interface for mounted filesystems.

Mozilla put of a lot of resources into creating a simple but effective UI aimed at making browsing quicker and easier. They created the tab structure that has been adopted by most other browsers. In recent years Mozilla has also focused on maximizing browsing area by simplifying toolbar controls to just a Firefox button (which contains settings and options) and back/forward buttons. The URL box features direct Google searching as well as an auto predict/history feature called Awesome Bar. On the right side of the URL box there are bookmarking, history and refresh buttons. To the right of the URL box is a search box which allows you to customize your search engine options. Outside of that a view button controls what you see below the URL. Next to that you have the download history and home buttons.

Firefox was the first browser to introduce a private browsing feature which allows you to use the internet more anonymously and securely. History, searches, passwords, downloads, cookies and cached content are all removed on shutdown. Minimizing the chances of another user stealing your identity or finding confidential information. Content security, anti-phishing technology and antivirus/antimalware integration ensures your browsing experience is as safe as possible.

4. Your browser will then begin downloading the Firefox installation file. Once it's finished, click the download located at the bottom of the browser, or go to where your downloads are stored and double-click the Firefox file.
